Ah, fight scenes. I'm not the greatest at writing them. I'm typically confused when watching them. But I love them with a passion for some reason and have many looming before me in the tens of thousands of words ahead. However, I'm learning how to sword fight at school. Wild, right? Before you get to thinking that I've been transported back in time, or that I attend a super prestigious and medieval private school, I'm learning this is Theater Class. (Choreographed violence/stage fights, you know?) Now, I haven't written a swordfight since learning, but I think now that I know how it'll be a little easier and—no offense, Leah—better than before. Does anybody else have fight scenes in their WIP? How would you rate your skill when it comes to writing them?

And how do you write pre-existing ones, anyway? I'm about 28k words and one-and-a-half-quarters into my novel and I am struggling so hard with four of my characters. Wanna know the worst part? They're all grouped together. 😐I think I may have to revisit their character profiles, and until they cooperate with me like good little characters, I'll just write in Flynne and Clementine's perspectives. But wow, I got so off track here. The question was how do you create new characters? What's your method? Do you just sort of pick the name of a friend from first grade and have them cameo in your novel before killing them off to build suspense? Not that—not that I've ever done anything like that... 👀

Wow! It's been a while, hasn't it? Moving and starting Eighth Grade has definitely eaten away at my time, but, as the founder of our little community, it's my responsibility to bring some light and life back into this site! So without further ado... What's your favorite genre to write? What's your favorite genre to read? Do you prefer writing/reading standalones or series? I love to write fantasy. It was pretty much the only genre I would even look at until this year! I just really love the whimsical and creative elements that are typical in those made-up worlds. I prefer series, although I'll read a good standalone. I just feel like series allow you to get to know the characters better, you know?
